New Ross Town Goes ‘Back to the Future’

Visitors to the town of New Ross this June 27 will be in for a trip down memory lane, as the town’s shops, people and streets will be transformed to how they looked in 1963. The date is fifty years to the very day President John F. Kennedy visited the town in 1963 and organiser’s say they are hosting this event as part of the JFK50 Homecoming Celebrations the New Ross and District Chamber in association with Experience New Ross & Hook Peninsula.
Celebrity stylist Marietta Doran was on hand today Friday, June 14 in New Ross to help launch details of the events on June 27 and announce the ‘Most Appropriately Dressed Lady’ competition which is due to take place on the day.
The 'Most Appropriately Dressed Lady' competition will take place in the New Ross Town Park with top TV personality and stylist Marietta Doran. Commenting on the competition Marietta said, “I'm delighted to be part of the Jfk50 celebrations particularly as my mum is from New Ross. The most appropriately dressed lady competition will be of the 60's era.
Offering some tips on how to dress for the competition Marietta said, “Try as best as possible to stay with the theme and I love that we are going to give a salute to the Jackie O style but I love the fact we are also giving a nod to the Woodstock look - so I look forward to seeing all the style from hippies chicks to very elegant looks. There are some wonderful boutiques and I'm a big fan of shopping local. Wexford ladies are always very stylish.
